¿Quiénes somos?
Slice makes cutting safer, primarily through our innovative finger-friendly® ceramic blades. Slice blades, with a proprietary safety grind, cut materials effectively but are safer to touch than dangerous metal blades. With new technology like this and a commitment to improving ergonomics and design, it’s no wonder that over half the Fortune 1000 trust Slice to reduce injuries and lower costs. Slice box cutters and utility knives are sold globally and distributed in over 30 countries. Our head office is located in San Jose, California, with satellite sales offices and warehouses in the USA, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Korea. One percent of global sales is donated to fund autism research. Contact us at [email protected] and ask how we can help you get rid of dangerous metal blades in your facilities. With new products coming out every year, we offer plenty of options for safer, more cost-effective tools in every area of your operations.
About Slice
Slice was founded in 2008 by TJ Scimone. Always looking for new ideas, he collaborated with renowned designers to reimagine everyday cutting products, making them safer and easier to use. Since that time, Slice has developed a collection of award-winning safety knives that increase productivity, lower costs, and, most importantly, reduce injuries. Slice tools are now used in major industries around the world.
Scimone founded Slice as a way to help fund long-term care for his autistic son. One percent of all Slice sales are donated to autism research.
At Slice, we know what’s important. We value safety, innovation, quality, simplicity, and community. These core values are evident in everything we do, from tool design to customer service.
Slice Values
These are the ideas at the heart of the Slice brand. They guide us in every aspect of our business.
  • Safety: reducing injuries and preventing accidents
  • Innovation: rethinking safety; fresh perspectives in all we do
  • Quality: creating quality products and quality relationships
  • Community: giving one percent for autism research
  • Simplicity: creating intuitive, easy-to-use products; clear communication with our customers
Fresh Thinking=Smart Design
Slice’s innovative tools reflect our fresh thinking. We collaborate with acclaimed designers to reimagine every aspect of tool use from the perspective of safety, ergonomics, and efficiency. The result is a cleanly-designed line of durable, effective, cutting tools.
Slice makes safer versions of traditional tools like the box cutter, utility knife, electrician's knife and craft knife. We've also developed ceramic micro-blade technology with innovative tools like our Precision Cutter and Safety Cutter. Whenever possible, Slice tools are ambidextrous and offer tool-free blade replacement.
Slice, Inc. is a proud member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and the National Safety Council.
Our Safety Is in the Blade
Most safety cutter brands look for new ways to design their handles. While these innovations are helpful, they don’t solve the core problem. After all, what cuts you: the handle or the blade? Slice went back to basics and developed a safer blade, using advanced ceramics.
Because steel is a relatively soft material, it dulls quickly. To give steel blades a useful working life, manufacturers sharpen it far beyond what’s necessary. This workaround sacrifices worker safety for longevity. Slice uses 100 percent zirconium oxide, an extremely hard material that doesn’t need to be oversharpened in order to maintain its edge. This allowed us to develop a proprietary grind that creates a finger-friendly, touchable blade that holds it edge an average of 11.2 times longer than steel.
The difference that blade thickness makes is clear: metal cuts skin easily while Slice ceramic blades require much more force before they’ll pierce skin.
Slice blades are wider and include a small micro edge that does the actual cutting. The grind angles create a blade that cuts materials effectively, but resists cutting skin. Slice blades disperse their pressure, requiring much more force to pierce skin’s tough outer layer than narrow steel blades.
Slice ceramic blades offer many other advantages over steel. They:
  • Never rust
  • Are chemically inert
  • Don’t require any oily coating or lubricant
  • Are safe up to 1600 degrees Celsius
  • Are non-sparking, non-conductive, and non-magnetic
  • Are maintenance-free
  • Don’t require sharps box disposal
  • Are recyclable
  • Are safe for clean rooms
Slice Tools
Slice’s line of innovative products is always expanding as we hear from our customers about what kinds of tools they need to make their industries safer. We design tools in the following categories:
Box Cutters: including our Red Dot Design Award-winning J-hook box cutters.
Utility Knives: in various shapes and sizes. Learn about our innovative Smart Retract and Ergo Pull technologies.
Precision Knives: for applications that require detailed cuts. Includes our Good Design Award-winning Precision Cutter.
Replacement Blades: ceramic blades that last 11 times longer than steel and feature a finger-friendly edge.
Ceramic Scissors: lightweight and compact safety scissors.
Replacement Blades
Slice replacement blades are made with 100 percent zirconium oxide, an advanced ceramic material that combines a number of useful features to set it apart from typical steel blades. Zirconium oxide is non-sparking, non-conductive, non-magnetic, chemically inert, and never rusts. Our blades are safe up to 1600 degrees Celsius and therefore ideal for sterilization and laboratory settings.
